SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the goal of helping people live healthier and happier, Herbalife Nutrition today launched Gene Start in South Korea, the first of its markets in the world to introduce an innovative healthcare service that analyzes one’s genetic make-up, dietary habits and lifestyles through the use of a portable genetic testing kit. The launch of Gene Start will empower Herbalife Nutrition to provide more comprehensive personalized nutrition solutions to meet the nutrition and wellness goals of today’s consumers.
In recent years, demand for personalized nutrition - where tailored nutrition solutions are given to individuals based on genetic factors, as well as other personal information – has been on the rise. Findings from the Herbalife Asia Pacific Balanced Nutrition Survey also revealed that over one-third of respondents in Asia Pacific would like to have access to expert advice for a personalised nutrition plan to enable adoption of positive nutrition habits.
“We are extremely excited to launch Gene Start in South Korea to take personalized nutrition to the next level. Backed by innovative advances in technology, Gene Start will be a great complement to our personalized nutrition approach, paving the way for us to provide more customized nutrition solutions for each consumer,” said Stephen Conchie, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Herbalife Nutrition.
Developed jointly with Theragen Etex, a leading company in genomic science, Gene Start testing service will be made available in South Korea through Herbalife Nutrition independent members. Following the test, consumers will receive detailed analysis on their genetic make-up and correlating lifestyle choices. Armed with the results, Herbalife members will be able to provide enhanced personalized nutrition programs to their customers and recommend Herbalife Nutrition products specifically tailored for their needs. The cost of the test is KRW79,200 (USD72).
“Currently, our members offer customers a tailored nutrition program incorporating the right food choices, exercise and proper product supplementation. With the launch of Gene Start, our members will be better equipped to develop more comprehensive personalized nutrition programs that are tailored to each customer’s current wellness condition, helping them accelerate their journey towards meeting their personal wellness goals,” added Conchie.
