Best Selling Microsoft SSL/VPN Appliances Now Manage DirectAccess

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Celestix Networks announced today that they have begun taking orders for their upgraded WSA™ series appliances that now host Microsoft’s new Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 software.

Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 (UAG) lets network professionals provide mobile and remote workers with secure access to enterprise applications via a highly configurable SSL VPN. UAG provides centralized, highly customizable management that provides granular access and policy control across all of an enterprise’s users, devices, and network resources. UAG also gives administrators expanded options for managing Microsoft’s new DirectAccess always on VPN feature in Windows Server 2008 R2. DirectAccess is expected to be a significant factor in the field of secure access as enterprises migrate their network infrastructures to Windows Server 2008 R2.

Celestix reengineered their new 6th-generation hardware platforms to maximize the performance of Microsoft’s 64-bit Windows 2008 R2 OS and UAG application with added processing power and memory. For smaller customers or branch offices, Celestix introduces the X4 platform, which supports the increased SSL encryption requirements of small businesses. Enterprise customers will benefit from Celestix’ new high-performance H2 platform designed for Fortune 1000 datacenters. Although network administrators often desire sheer throughput for SSL encryption, Celestix strikes the right balance of power, security, and economy by minimizing space and power requirements while producing its trademarked sleek, elegant appliance design.

The new WSA appliances also share Celestix’ next-generation Comet™ appliance engine software with Celestix’ recently released MSA web security gateway appliances. Celestix reengineered their appliance engine from the ground up to deliver the fully integrated appliance experience familiar to existing Celestix customers. Comet™ takes full advantage of the new 64-bit architecture to provide datacenter-ready features such as a web user interface for headless operation, integrated save/restore of Last Good Version for disaster recovery, and a rebuilt software update engine to provide a comprehensive view of patching.

“By adding our X4 hardware platform and H2 high-end hardware platform to our appliance series, we have positioned WSA appliances with 64 bit technology to remain the SSL VPN solutions of choice for protecting the next generation of Microsoft infrastructures at businesses and enterprises,” commented Neil Matz, vice president of product management at Celestix.
