Mine city is the countryside of Yamaguchi prefecture, the western end of the main island of Japan. It has one of the country’s largest karst plateaus Akiyoshidai and limestone caves Akiyoshido. And the local communities maintain the traditional rural scenery. “Some tourists from Osaka told me that the wind they felt in Akiyoshidai was amazingly refreshing. They had never felt like that in the busy city” said Tsutomu Yamamoto, the president of Mine City Tourism Association.
