The Society for Information Display (SID) announced the winners of its first ever People's Choice Awards at its 56th International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition, known as Display Week 2019, at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. Thousands voted on new products that will be hitting the shelves both in the US and internationally within the next few years.
“On behalf of SID, I congratulate CLEARink Displays for winning SID’s first ever People’s Choice Award, at the Display Week International Symposium and Exhibition,” said Dr. Helge Seetzen, President of SID. “This is one of the most prestigious awards in our industry; the winners were chosen from over 200 exhibitors by our attendees from all over the world."
CLEARink’s patent protected, revolutionary display technology based on Electrophoretic Total Internal Reflection (eTIR) is low power, sunlight readable, color and video capable. CLEARink's 9.7" tablet-sized displays demonstrated at Display Week are aimed at tablets and PC’s for education and other applications. The high contrast panels with 4096 colors mimic the textbook experience. The displays are video capable up to 30 frames per second and this feature not only allows educational video content, it also enables fast page turns, Internet browsing, ability to jot down notes quickly without lag and can replicate the white board experience on a tablet. The panels were driven at less than 5V, consuming very little power. The 227 dpi resolution allows for drawing fine lines, cursive writing in any language, shows maps and images with great detail.
“It is an honor to win Display Week’s first People’s Choice Award,” said Frank Christiaens, CEO of CLEARink Displays. “We thank SID and the industry attendees that voted for us. Our team has accomplished a lot in the past year; we have best in class reflective displays, enviable investors and $300M in business from global customers. Our vision is to build the most valuable display company that solves market problems and has a deep impact on the industry and society.”
