LONDON -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Following lockdowns around the world, the tourism industry has been the hardest hit sector with a decline of around 400 million tourist arrivals anticipated across the globe1. As a brand that is rooted in the exploration of nature and its homeland, the beach, Corona is launching the “Rediscover Paradise” program to give back to a sector that has supported its brand lifestyle with consumers for years. As part of the program, Corona is launching domestic travel platforms around the world to help people reconnect with the outside, booking over 14,000 hotel rooms at over 1,000 hotels worldwide to provide relief to the struggling travel industry. This equates to over $1.4 million USD. The platform is meant to provide consumers with the opportunity to unwind and reconnect with nature again while also supporting domestic tourism.
“After months of staying indoors, we know that consumers are looking to travel again, but want to do so safely and affordably,” said Felipe Ambra, Corona Global VP. “By launching this program which includes booking hotel rooms worldwide, our hope is to provide some financial relief to the industry -- an industry that we humbly thank for often serving up a Corona to its travelers looking to sit back and enjoy the outdoors. We also want to provide hopeful travelers with great deals that would encourage people to take that first step in getting back to travel starting with rediscovering their own countries again.”
Corona is first rolling out its travel relief program in select countries including the United Kingdom, Brazil, India, Chile and Canada where local teams are developing platforms in partnership with local travel booking companies, such as CultureTrip, Kayak, Smartrip, Thrillophilia and more to provide relief to local resorts and hotels. In select countries, the brand is launching the platform as an open source site for hotels to offer discounted rates and forego fees often associated with popular booking sites. Additionally, Corona will be giving some of it’s pre-purchased rooms away as part of travel packages through trade and social promotions. These efforts will complement a range of initiatives the brand is also implementing to stimulate local tourism and outdoor experiences, including the re-launch of its Corona Sunsets event franchise where allowed.
To kick off the program, Corona is releasing ‘Never This Beautiful’, a film developed in partnership with global travel creators, inspiring the world to explore with care as it begins to travel outside again. The video can be viewed on Youtube.com/Corona.
