Online Video Platform Company Offers Silverlight as a Streaming Option
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ooyala, a leading provider of end-to-end video platform applications and services, today announced it will be working with Microsoft Corp to drive further adoption of Microsoft Silverlight via its end-to-end video publishing platform. With the introduction of Silverlight, video publishers now have the option to publish in Adobe Flash, Silverlight and/or HTML 5.
Microsoft has invested heavily in making Silverlight a security-enhanced way to deliver high quality video to the three screens – broadcast, broadband and mobile. In certain European and Asian markets, Silverlight has the same penetration as Flash.
"We're very excited to be announcing our video solution for Silverlight," stated Chris Wong, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Ooyala. "As more Studios and Broadcasters put their long-form content online, they're demanding delivery technologies like Silverlight to deliver a more secure and high quality video experience to their consumers across all platforms. One example is the increase in demand for Silverlight use for the World Cup Soccer championship this year."
“Microsoft is excited to collaborate with Ooyala on its end-to-end video platform application and services,” said Brian Goldfarb, director of the developer platform group at Microsoft. “By providing publishers the options of using Silverlight, Ooyala is helping Web developers take advantage of the tools needed to create truly unique video solutions.”
"We've been very happy with the flexibility Microsoft offers developers building with Silverlight," says Sean Knapp, Co-Founder and CTO at Ooyala. "The eco-system and the developer tools built around Silverlight are growing daily. For media and marketing companies looking to deliver a high quality and security-enhanced video stream online, Silverlight is a fantastic solution."
Ooyala will be announcing the first set of customers who are delivering professional video content with Silverlight at The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) industry show in Las Vegas, April 10-15.
