SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (NYSE: KCI) announced today that Ron Silverman, M.D., FACS, has been appointed senior vice president and chief medical officer. Beginning in August, Dr. Silverman will be responsible for KCI’s medical and clinical strategies across the globe as the company continues to expand its product portfolio and enter new markets around the world.

Dr. Silverman has been on staff at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he served as chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery and associate professor of Surgery. He has widely recognized clinical expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, complex wound management, abdominal wall reconstruction and tissue engineering for reconstructive surgery.
For several years, Dr. Silverman has served on KCI’s Scientific Advisory Board, a committee of leading clinical experts that provides medical guidance to the company. He also has been a leading speaker for a number of years at surgeon forums hosted by LifeCell, KCI’s regenerative medicine unit. Dr. Silverman completed his plastic surgery residency at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital in Plastic Surgery and earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also is adjunct associate professor of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
