NetXen Becomes Qualified LOM Vendor at HP
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NetXen, Inc., the leader in mainstream 10-Gigabit Ethernet server connectivity, today announced that its NX3031 third-generation Intelligent NIC® is shipping as the integrated NIC on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers, qualifying NetXen as a LOM vendor at HP.
The NX3031 is the third generation of a family of highly integrated, fully programmable Intelligent NIC devices from NetXen designed to process multi-gigabit network I/O streams. The chip features two 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; and NetXen’s flexible networking architecture, which enables OEMs to offer quad port 1GbE network connectivity in servers today and provide a cost-effective option to upgrade to 10GbE connectivity. The new HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server leverages this architecture to significantly enhance its scalability and configurability.
“The flexibility of our third-generation Intelligent NIC products to deliver both 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet in a single device provides the industry with an easy, affordable and flexible technology migration path,” said Govind Kizhepat, CEO and founder, NetXen. “By incorporating NetXen’s NX3031 Intelligent NIC solution, server platforms can start out with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and then transition to 10 Gigabit Ethernet when and how they need it, without burdening the cost of the base platform.”
“Customers are searching for cost-effective, simple solutions to accelerate business growth and improve data center scalability,” said John Gromala, director of product marketing, Industry Standard Servers, HP. “The NetXen NX3031, coupled with the power of the HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server, allows customers to enhance network connectivity and drive data center performance.”
