Cortina’s Integrated Access Optimizes Network Cost on Both Ends of the Fiber

(Cortina), delivering innovative technologies that link people and networks worldwide, today announced the newest additions, CS8017 EPON ONU, CS8210 GPON ONU, and CS8022 OLT, to its Integrated Access platform, a comprehensive technology development suite for the access network. Cortina continues to work with systems providers to optimize network cost on both ends of the fiber through integration. As part of Integrated Access Platform, Cortina Systems® CS8017/CS8210 ONUs are consolidated EPON/GPON ONU solutions with integrated VoIP processors and Ethernet switches. Cortina Systems® CS8022 OLT is the 2nd generation quad EPON OLT with integrated switch. To enable fast time to market, these devices include a device driver, software applications, operating systems, and reference designs.

CS8017/CS8210:
The Cortina Systems® CS8017 and CS8210ONUs are highly integrated low cost, low power EPON/GPON ONU (Optical Network Unit) system on a chip (SoC) solutions. These ONUs implement a EPON or GPON port with integrated VoIP processor and 5-port switch that provides a cost-effective solution for data, voice, and video services. The CS8017/CS8210 EPON/GPON ONU integrates the PON SerDes and PON MAC, 4 Ethernet ports as its user interface with 1 port for management, a PCM interface for direct connections to SLIC/SLAC devices for voice applications, as well as two powerful embedded CPUs. The CS8017 EPON ONU and CS8210 GPON ONU devices come complete with a comprehensive software development kit for fast time-to-market deployment.
CS8022:
Cortina Systems® CS8022 is the 2nd Generation Quad OLT PON. By integrating the Ethernet switch, the CS8022 enables a single chip line card that is compliant with the latest specifications (e.g. CTC v2.1). To enable the system to scale to 10G, the CS8022 has XAUI redundancy to the backplane and cascading to expand the PON port number for high density line cards. For the high density line cards, the CS8022 advance traffic management allows hierarchy schedulers, multi-level shaping, policing and rate limiting along with subscriber/service based bandwidth management.
