Leading Industry Innovation, Multiple Market-Shifting WirelessHD Solutions Showcased
TAIPEI, Taiwan & SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WirelessHD technology was showcased by various PC companies, PC accessory manufacturers, and ODMs such as ASUS, Azurewave and others, at COMPUTEX 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan. Embedded with 60GHz WirelessHD chipsets from SiBEAM, Inc., the leading innovator of millimeter wave (mmWave) solutions and developer of high-speed wireless communications platforms, COMPUTEX show attendees were able to experience the World’s First WirelessHD-based PC solutions including the first integrated WirelessHD Notebook PC from WirelessHD adopter ASUS and other products from current and future WirelessHD members, Azurewave, Abocom, Gemtek and Shuttle. WirelessHD has established itself as the choice of major global consumer electronics and PC manufacturers for delivery of true uncompressed, lossless delivery of high definition content.
“The WirelessHD Consortium is delighted to see the proliferation of WirelessHD products at Computex,” said John Marshall, Chairman of the WirelessHD Consortium. “Initially, we witnessed the inclusion of WirelessHD technology in televisions and CE accessories due to the high quality demanded by consumers in their entertainment experience. With the PC becoming a convergence platform for gaming and entertainment, WirelessHD’s expansion into portable and desktop PCs highlights consumer’s desire for a wireless display experience. Alternative solutions that provide a lower quality, high latency viewing experience will not suffice for consumers, highlighting the promising future of WirelessHD.”
ASUS Introduces World’s First Integrated WirelessHD Notebook PC with SiBEAM Technology
ASUS has incorporated SiBEAM’s WirelessHD technology in its new notebook PCs including the G73JW and the G53. Ideal for gaming, these models will provide consumers with a latency-free wireless gaming experience with perfect video quality, as SiBEAM’s WirelessHD technology is the only wireless display solution on the market that provides a lossless and uncompressed video connection. The addition of the technology will enable consumers to use the notebook with the HD television while at home or play games on the notebook while on the road. By operating in the 60GHz frequency band, the new products will not experience any interference with WiFi, cordless phones, or other wireless technologies, but rather permit simultaneous usage of these other wireless devices for Internet access and home networking.
AzureWave Showcases World’s First WirelessHD DMC Designed Specifically for PCs
Incorporating WirelessHD chipsets powered by SiBEAM Inc., AzureWave’s line-up of WirelessHD products includes an external transmitter/receiver box for A/V home systems, an embedded WirelessHD module, as well as the world’s first display mini card (DMC) designed just for PCs. With the built-in WirelessHD DMC, PC users will be able to enjoy real-time wireless transmission of uncompressed HD movies or video games on full 1080p displays without compromise, while manufacturers will be able to take advantage of the card’s very small form factor and low power consumption.
Abocom WirelessHD Adapters Deliver High Quality, High-Speed Wireless Link
Abocom demonstrated its WirelessHD Tx 4-port and WirelessHD Rx 1-port adapters. The Tx 4-port adapter includes four ports for HDMI input, ideal for linking CE sources such as Blu-ray players, A/V receivers, video-game consoles, and set-top boxes to HDTVs and projectors. The WirelessHD Rx 1-port adapter also wirelessly connects to home theater products, transmitting lossless high-definition 1080p picture resolution, as if it were actually connected with an HDMI cable.
Gemtek G-Touch Docking Station Enables Touch Screen Portable PC to Transmit Content Wirelessly
Gemtek demonstrated its G-Touch docking station that enables touch screen portable PC products to be docked and then transmit content wirelessly to the television or display through the docking station’s embedded wireless capability. This concept is noteworthy in that it showcases the potential for incorporating wireless display technology into docking stations for a range of portable and mobile products. WirelessHD provides the best potential experience with the highest quality output, signaling the bright future for WirelessHD in portable products as well as mobile products in the near future.
Shuttle Desktop PC with Embedded WirelessHD Module Highlights WirelessHD Technology
In addition to portable and mobile solutions, Shuttle demonstrated the potential for including WirelessHD technology in desktop PCs. Higher performance desktop systems used for any application from high-performance computing to gaming to traditional productivity applications can benefit from wireless connectivity to a single or multiple monitors.
