LEICESTER, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new course which gives students the opportunity to work in a British company or organisation is being launched at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, UK.
The course, MSc Intercultural Business Communication, brings together skills in business, language and international expertise and is designed to give students a competitive edge in the global job market.
Dr Lixian Jin, originally from China, is leading the course at DMU, which is now accepting applications from overseas students. The course is due to start in September 2010.
The course is particularly aimed at those who wish to specialise in intercultural communications, particularly in business, corporate or international organisations. It gives students the chance to improve their English language skills to a higher professional level, whilst also developing a strong cultural awareness and enhancing their intercultural communication competence. There is also the option to undertake a placement with a UK company or organisation to build on intercultural business communication skills.
Dr Jin, DMU’s Director of Centre for Intercultural Research in Communication and Learning (CIRCL), said: “Effective communication is a vital skill in any area of employment and intercultural communication is fast becoming a highly sought after business skill by all employers.
“Through a combination of theory, practice and work experience, we aim to enhance your skills, and your future career prospects in an increasingly globalised workforce.”
Dr Jin, who is widely known for her expertise in this field, is regularly invited to give public lectures, key-note speeches and workshops to international and professional audiences, including British universities, the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, the British Council, and many universities across China, Taiwan, Hong King, the Middle East and Europe. She is also a visiting professor at a number of key universities in China such as People’s University of China and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
