BioTime CEO Dr. Michael West and CMO Dr. David Jin to Present Keynote Addresses at The Sixth Chinese Congress in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy in Suzhou, P.R. China

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioTime, Inc. (NYSE Amex: BTIM) announced that Chief Executive Officer Michael West, Ph.D. will deliver a keynote presentation this week at the Sixth Chinese Congress in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy being held September 16-19, 2010 in Suzhou, P.R. China. This Congress is the largest of its type in China with over 2,000 participants from various stem cell-related disciplines.

Dr. West’s presentation titled “Human Embryonic Stem Cell-Derived Formulations for Orthopedic Applications” will address the manufacturing process and research use of ACTCellerate™ embryonic progenitor lines in the development of treatments for orthopedic disorders.

BioTime and OncoCyte Chief Medical Officer David Jin, M.D., Ph.D. will give a presentation at the conference on behalf of BioTime subsidiaries OncoCyte Corporation and BioTime Asia, Limited. Dr. Jin's presentation is titled “Novel Role of Bone Marrow-Derived Hemangiocytes in Chemokine-Induced Angiogenesis.” The presentation will address the novel therapeutic strategy using hemangiogenic stem cell technology targeted for tumor vasculature. This research focuses on the development of treatments for certain cancers by creating cells capable of targeting the blood vessels feeding tumors which they are armed to destroy.
