NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Time Warner Inc. today announced that Belinda Lui has joined the company as Vice President, International Relations and Public Policy, Asia Pacific. Ms. Lui will be responsible for developing public policy and governmental affairs for Time Warner and coordinating strategy and public outreach for the company’s divisions and brands in the Asia Pacific region.

“Time Warner’s policy efforts in the Asia Pacific region will play an increasingly important role in our ability to capitalize on strategic opportunities in the global marketplace for media production and distribution,” said Carol Melton, Executive Vice President, Global Public Policy. “I am pleased that Belinda will be leading our policy efforts in this region. Her many years of experience in public affairs and intellectual property law, along with her reputation as an effective collaborator, will make Belinda a great asset to the company.”

Ms. Lui is a solicitor specializing in intellectual property law. For the past 7 years, she has led Microsoft’s IP policy and anti-piracy efforts in Hong Kong and Macau. In this capacity, she has worked closely with various government and industry bodies on legislative, public policy and IP education issues. Prior to Microsoft, Ms. Lui worked for the international law firm Baker & McKenzie in Sydney and Hong Kong.

Ms. Lui will be replacing Hugh Stephens, who will remain with the company for an interim period in a senior advisory role.

Ms. Lui will officially begin her new position on October 8^th.

Ms. Liu has served as Chairperson of the Business Software Alliance in Hong Kong and Macau for over 5 years, where she regularly speaks to media on behalf of the software industry. In addition, she serves on several other IP-related industry committees, including the Hong Kong Copyright Alliance, the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Alliance and the Hong Kong Digital Content Alliance. She was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in 2009 and is the former Chairperson of the Chamber’s IP Committee.
