GLASGOW, Scotland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A painting by Hong Kong born artist Jimmy Leung will go up for auction in the UK next week, making it one of only a handful of works by the highly acclaimed artist ever to be sold outside China.

Leung is closely associated with China Merchants Bank (Shenzhen) and his paintings are reported to have sold recently for around $1 million (6,639,599 CNY)

The painting which is being offered by McTear's Fine Art Auctioneers in Glasgow, Scotland UK on 30th November is titled "Red Sunset" and dates from 2006. It is catalogued with an estimate of £100,000 - £150,000 (1,066,244 CNY - 1,599,642 CNY).

A spokesman for McTear's commented: "We expect this fabulous painting to sell to an overseas buyer, most likely from China. Jimmy Leung is highly respected in Scotland but his prices in China appear to have been enjoying very substantial increases over the last few years."

Born in Hong Kong, Jimmy Leung came to the UK with his parents and family when he was nine years old and now in his mid fifties, he's become something of an art superstar in China. It is understood that Mr Leung has homes in China and Scotland and McTear's confirm that they have spoken to Mr Leung who has authenticated this painting which is being sold on behalf of a private Scottish collector.
