Next-Generation Entertainment Architecture Provides Personalized Viewing Experience
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Digital Interactive Interface for Video & Audio™ (DiiVA™) consortium will unveil the power of DiiVA as the platform for the next-generation home entertainment network on the show floor of the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 6-9. On debut will be the world’s first DiiVA TVs demonstrating how network-connected DiiVA devices make it possible to go well beyond the traditional viewing boundaries and pave the way for a new and personalized TV-viewing experience.
TVs from manufacturing powerhouses, LG, Hisense, Konka, Skyworth and TCL will showcase the rich functionality afforded by DiiVA’s innovative design that enables consumers to simply and conveniently, access, organize and manage their favorite digital content—across an entertainment network of heterogeneous devices. With DiiVA, users can interact with their content quickly and intuitively by clicking an icon on their TV screen or smartphone and immediately view the content they desire—without having to remember the original source or device on which the content resides. The combination of unsurpassed raw video bandwidth, data transport capacity, middleware and application network awareness provides consumers with an experience and features on the TV that mirrors the apps-driven experience they have come to expect from their smartphones and other digital devices.
Also on display are DiiVA-enabled reference designs from System-on-Chip (SoC) partners Sigma Designs for an IPTV set-top box and media player and MediaTek for a Blu-ray player. All devices are powered by production available transmitter, receiver, switch and middleware solutions from Synerchip, a founding member of the DiiVA consortium and first to market with DiiVA IC products.
In addition, manufacturing partners, Abocom, a manufacturer of adapter devices, and cable and connector suppliers, Foxconn and Hosiden, will be on hand in the DiiVA booth to demonstrate how their products further support of the DiiVA ecosystem.
To promote the availability of compliant and interoperable DiiVA products in the marketplace, products must complete compliance testing at a DiiVA Authorized Test Center (ATC) in order to bear the DiiVA logo. The first DiiVA ATC, a state-of-the-art test facility in Guangzhou, China, opened its doors and began testing products for DiiVA compatibility in the 4th quarter of 2010. To learn more about DiiVA testing policies and procedures and to schedule product testing, DiiVA Adopters are encouraged to visit www.diiva.org/atc/guangzhou.
The consortium also welcomes new DiiVA Contributors, cable and connector providers Elka and Yazaki, to the growing list of over 30 companies who have publicly committed to adopting and incorporating DiiVA technology into their product lines.
Secretary General of the China Video Industry Association, Mrs. Weimin Bai, stated, “With the introduction of the world’s first DiiVA TVs, broad availability of enabling silicon and software solutions, and active interoperability testing, the key components are firmly in place to bring affordable home entertainment networks to consumers in China and around the world.” She also noted, “The flexibility and DiiVA’s advanced technology provides an opportunity for device manufacturers, service operators and media companies to deliver.”
Application developers, device manufacturers, technology infrastructure companies, content owners and service providers focused on delivering content, services and applications to consumers that enable a new entertainment experience are encouraged to visit booth 21225, LVCC South Hall or contact admin@diiva.org to schedule an appointment.
