Special January issue now available for free online
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Marking its 101st year of publication, Landscape Architecture magazine unveiled a dramatic new design and layout with its January 2011 issue and is offering access to its online version for free. The magazine, published by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), is one of the oldest continually published design magazines in the United States and the landscape architecture profession’s national publication of record.
“We’ve reinvented the magazine to reflect the dynamic progress and growing influence of the landscape architecture profession today while also respecting the publication’s significance and history,” said Editor-in-Chief Bradford McKee.
The sweeping changes touch all aspects of the magazine and will actively engage readers while presenting the profession in new, vibrant ways. The new approach reflects the first major update to Landscape Architecture in 15 years.
“We’re focusing on smart, innovative, helpful features; strong opinions; and great visual impact,” said McKee, who notes the goal is to make the magazine more conversational and provocative for today’s landscape architects, who want a publication that is both practical and aspirational.
In addition to a new cover scheme and modernized page layouts, larger page size, and improved paper stock, the magazine has a crisper format, with defined front, middle, and back sections. The first section, Foreground, offers substantive news about business, practice, technology and products. The middle Features section highlights projects, people and places through in-depth reporting and a greater emphasis on visual imagery. The Back section will cover books and research, but also explore other topics such as ethics, education and history.
