Representing the Largest Consumer Electronics Brand Owners, Camstar’s Cloud-based SQN to Sign Top Suppliers in China in 2011
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Camstar Systems, Inc. announced today that it is launching CamstarSQN™, a cloud-based supplier quality network representing the largest global consumer electronics brand owners and their key component suppliers. Specifically designed to enable brand owners and component suppliers to collaborate on quality at the source, and to proactively ensure that incoming components satisfy their requirements, this network will allow brand owners instant visibility, real-time process intelligence, and systematic quality analytics to identify component supplier issues across their supply chain.
The initial phase of the network is currently being deployed on behalf of four of the largest consumer electronics brand owners globally, and their critical component manufacturers in China. The cloud-based solution allows suppliers to get on board in days, with virtually no impact to their IT infrastructure. The first set of suppliers will join the network within the next 90 days, and will be part of SQN Phase 1. Phase 1 suppliers will collaborate with brand owners to define quality processes and methods that will direct the path forward for CamstarSQN.
Suppliers joining the network will now be able to perform their own analysis of real-time process data, detect and correct quality issues before shipment, and better understand critical-to-quality characteristics that ensure preferred supplier status.
“As a leader in providing reliability testing solutions to the largest component suppliers in China for decades, we see a critical gap that CamstarSQN promises to fill,” said David Yang, Vice President of Sales, Test & Measurement Business Unit of Chroma Inc. “These suppliers are working diligently to earn their customers’ high ratings by ensuring that products they produce consistently exceed expectations. CamstarSQN will allow our joint customers to better understand those expectations, and proactively manage their quality and compliance issues, ultimately improving their overall manufacturing excellence.”
“In this new world of global outsourced manufacturing, brand owners have growing responsibilities for every step of the supply chain, where quality problems ultimately impact their brand and their bottom line,” said Scott Toney, President and CEO of Camstar. “This state-of-the-art supplier quality collaboration hub gives them instant visibility into their supply chain, detecting potential problems before they escape, creating leaner, more responsive operations, and ultimately accelerating their decision velocity.”
“CamstarSQN will flatten the supply chain world,” said Lawrence Khoo, Global COO of AMREP Supplier Management Services. “Our business mission has always been to reduce suppliers’ cost of poor quality and to improve conformance and compliance to quality specifications. In partnership with Camstar, we will help these suppliers deliver electronic Certificates of Compliance (COC), eliminate the need for frequent and disruptive on-site audits and ultimately achieve their quality goals. Those suppliers joining in Phase 1 will help shape this game-changing network.”
