Scheduled to open in 2013, Conrad Suzhou marks Hilton Worldwide’s entry into Suzhou
SHANGHAI & MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hilton Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Suzhou Chinaing Real Estate Co., Ltd for the first Conrad hotel in Jiangsu, China. Scheduled to open its doors in 2013, the 290-room Conrad Suzhou marks Hilton Worldwide’s entry into Suzhou, a dynamic Chinese ancient city known for its rich history and vibrant economy. Popularly known as ‘Venice of the East’, Suzhou is a significant light industrial and commercial city on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the shores of Taihu Lake in the Jiangsu Province.
Christopher J. Nassetta, President & CEO of Hilton Worldwide said, “Hilton Worldwide currently operates 17 hotels in nine cities across China. We have more than 70 properties under various stages of development. These 70 properties are spread throughout China’s key gateway and emerging cities. Our entry into Suzhou is in line with our strategy to entrench our presence in the primary cities while we continue to seek out growth opportunities in the developing destinations.”
“Suzhou Industrial Park is one of the most well-planned and mature industrial parks in China. The introduction of our Conrad brand to Suzhou will bring to bear the strength of our brand and the reputation of Hilton Worldwide’s hotel management expertise,” he added.
Suzhou Chinaing Real Estate Co., Ltd is part of the Tiandi and Dongfang Groups, which combines core expertise in new and high technology, real estate, culture and education, as well as business services. Made up of more than 20 companies, the combined assets of Tiandi and Dongfang Groups are worth more than RMB 3 billion, making them a strong and reputably large and modern joint-stock enterprise group.
Mr Yang Xiu, Chairman of Suzhou Chinaing Real Estate Co., Ltd said, “Hilton Worldwide is undoubtedly one of the most influential and well-known international global hotel operators in China. Combining Hilton Worldwide’s world renowned management expertise with our track records in real estate and hotel development, we are confident that Conrad Suzhou will be an iconic representation of award-winning hospitality and service.”
Conrad Suzhou will be part of a mixed-use skyscraper development designed to shape like an oriental gate. The development is touted to be the most iconic building in Suzhou once it is completed.
Conrad Suzhou will be located in the heart of the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) on the west of Jinji Lake. Suzhou is well-served by air transportation via Shanghai and land transportation systems including the Jiangsu-Shanghai Expressway, the Yangtze Riverine Expressway, and the Suzhou-Jiaxing-Hangzhou Expressway.
