ITASCA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Knowles Electronics, LLC announced today that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed the U.S. International Trade Commission’s (ITC) final determination that MEMS Technology Berhad’s (MemsTech) importation and sale of certain MEMS microphone packages infringes Knowles’s U.S. Patents 7,242,089 and 6,781,231. The Court of Appeals held that Knowles’s patents are valid and enforceable, and affirmed the ITC’s exclusion order barring MemsTech from importing its infringing products into the U.S.
“This is an important victory for Knowles and we are pleased that the Federal Circuit has affirmed the validity of our patents. We will continue to vigorously protect our intellectual property, support our development of innovative products for the markets we serve, and ensure we capture the value of our investment in research and development,” said Jeffrey Niew, President & Chief Executive Officer of Knowles Electronics.
The patents in this case are part of a large portfolio of patents related to Knowles SiSonicTM MEMS microphones and microphone packaging technology. These patents cover several variations of SiSonicTM microphones and manufacturing methods.
