SHANGHAI--(Business Wire)--To carry out China’s low-carbon economy strategy and new energy strategy and serve the local governments’ goals of developing advanced manufacturing industries and upgrading the automobile industrial structure, the People’s Government of Jiading District, Shanghai and CBI EVENTS will team up to present the 2nd Shanghai International New Energy Vehicle Summit 2011. The conference will attract 200+ decision-makers from governmental authorities, auto manufacturers, battery material suppliers, key auto parts suppliers as well as investment and financing, design and consulting, testing and certification organizations to brainstorm the latest focal issues.

On June 22, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) announced on its official website that the compiling of the Energy Conservation and New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Planning (2011-2020) had been roughly completed. Sources said that the Planning would come into effect in the second half of 2011. It indicates that a new round of upsurge will be seen in China’s new energy vehicle industry. The next five years will be critical for the shift of the new energy vehicle industry’s focus from R&D to industrialization. It will also be a key period for the strategic development of electric cars.

Shanghai, as one of the pilot cities carrying out China’s “Ten Cities, Thousand Vehicles” action plan, has worked out its development plan for the new energy industry in 2012. According to the plan, Shanghai’s new energy vehicle capacity will reach 100,000 per year with output value at RMB 30 billion, of which passenger vehicles will account for at least 80%. Meanwhile, new energy enterprises engaged in technology transfer and development will be exempt from the business tax. Moreover, local governments will increase procurement of new energy vehicles, with an aim to raise the proportion of new energy vehicles and new energy buses in government and public procurement of new vehicles to above 30% respectively in 2012. The co-organizer Jiading District government has set up an industry base for new energy vehicles and key parts to achieve the application of 30,000 new energy vehicles by 2015. in Jiading District, the number of new energy vehicles in use will increase to 3,500 in 2011 and 14,000 in 2012 from 100 in 2010. Jiading will account for 60%-70% of local electric vehicle application in Shanghai.

At the 2nd Shanghai International New Energy Vehicle Summit, 200+ high-level industry players will illustrate the new energy vehicle industry development planning and outlook towards 2015, share experience from global leading auto manufacturers and view on China’s development strategy, analyze supporting infrastructure plans, comment on related standards and resolve technical bottlenecks with the help of the 863 expert panel. This year’s grand gathering aims to help Shanghai government create an international communications platform for the new energy vehicle industry.
