Hong Kong (1stFebruary, 2016) -The AIA Great European Carnival today announced that it will provide free entry for Hong Kong residents for the remainder of their Carnival period, which ends at 11pm on Sunday 21st of February. Visitors will still need to purchase tokens to go on rides and games, but will be able to enter for free for the remainder of the carnival season.
The AIA Great European Carnival CEO, Mr Michael Denmark today made a public statement at the entrance to the Carnival: “January has seen the wettest month for Hong Kong since records began in 1884. We have experienced the coldest days to have hit the territory in decades. We have had the least amount of sunshine ever experienced in a January in Hong Kong.”
“We would like to announce that the fun is just about to begin. From today onwards and throughout our remaining opening days, The AIA Great European Carnival will be free to enter for all Hong Kong Residents. From 11am to 11pm every day, entry will be free,” he added.
On the back of poor weather throughout the January period, it is reported that while thousands have still attended the Carnival, independent research has revealed that many more were expected but decided not to attend due to poor weather. Despite this, the response and feedback from those that did attend was overwhelmingly positive, over 95% satisfaction with 78% of visitors noting that they intended to return once again before the Carnival closes for the season.
The Carnival will continue to operate for the first 21 days of February and boasts over 30 top quality rides imported from all over Europe, an array of street and live entertainment and music, a variety of food and beverage, and of course a wide range of over 32 skill games to play where hundreds of thousands of toys have been won, and hundreds of thousands more are here waiting to be won.
There is a fantastic line up of entertainment in store through Chinese New Year, special activities for Valentine’s Day, followed by a final week of celebrations.
Partners the Udderbelly Festival have back to back shows until 14th February and the feedback from guests of their shows to date has been outstanding.
“All of our staff from game operators, customer service, our ride operators and showmen, our entertainers, management, sponsors and our partners are ready to make this February one for you, your friends and your families - one that you will celebrate, enjoy, and remember for a lifetime,” added Mr Denmark.
With entry now free, members of the public have more money to spend on games and rides, with in park ride promotions and happy hours as part of the Celebration of February and Chinese New Year.
Mr Denmark suggests that people do not leave it to the last minute, the doors are open now until 21st February.
