PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Calgon Carbon Corporation (NYSE: CCC) announced that it has been awarded a contract by DaeWoo Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd., to supply 5.6 million pounds of granular activated carbon (GAC) to the Gu Eui Municipal Drinking Water Plant in Seoul City, South Korea, for drinking water treatment. The GAC will be installed in newly constructed carbon filters to remove unpleasant taste and odor from the plant’s source water.
The Gu Eui Plant provides 119 million gallons of potable water per day to approximately 600 thousand residents in GwangJin-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Calgon Carbon was selected due to its rigorous product quality assurance procedure and the excellent long-term performance of the Calgon Carbon products that have been installed in several other municipal drinking water treatment plants in Korea.
