Warehouse TERRADA Announcing Internship Program with Taiwan's Cheng Shiu University as Part of Our Collaborative Course at the Yokohama College of Art & Design

TOKYO--()--In April, 2017 Warehouse TERRADA (Shinagawa, Tokyo / CEO: Yoshihisa Nakano) is pleased to announce that we will establish a collaborative course in art restoration and preservation at Tokiwamatsu Gakuen’s Yokohama College of Art & Design (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture / President: Dr. Nobuaki Okamoto). Along with this, Yokohama College of Art & Design has also entered into an academic exchange agreement with Taiwan’s Cheng Shiu University (Kaohsiung City, Taiwan / President: Jui-Chang Kung), with the primary goals of which are academic and cultural exchange in the areas of education, research and other fields. The two schools will also institute a mutual internship program.Based in Tennoz, we, Warehouse TERRADA draw upon our expertise in the utilization of space in our pursuit of technical improvements in preservation and restoration. Our storage technologies for items that require high expertise such as valuable items, artworks, wines and media have been receiving a great reputation both in Japan and abroad, and demand for our services from outside Japan has grown sharply. From our base, Tennoz, We has been output new art and culture, and has formed TERRADA ART VILLAGE, a hotspot / locus for the production of art. The establishment of our collaborative course is part of our art related business, and we are contributing to supporting the development of the next generation in the field of art.

[About "Warehouse TERRADA Collaborative Course in Restoration and Preservation"]
Established as a new course in the Department of Art and Design at the Yokohama College of Art & Design, the course is intended to train restoration technicians involved in the restoration and preservation of artworks and craftworks. Based on learning through a diversity of educational research courses, one of Yokohama College of Art & Design’s unique features, the new course will offer students the opportunity to learn the method and skills of restoration and preservation, and will include specialized subjects required for those involved in restoration and preservation management, as well as practical English language subjects tailored to the art and design field. Along with the start of the course, a Yokohama College of Art & Design Tennoz Satellite will be established at the TERRADA Art Complex operated by Warehouse TERRADA, and students will learn restoration and preservation of digital archives. Cheng Shiu University, the counterpart to the academic exchange agreement, has its own center for art restoration and preservation, and the institution of an internship program will further enhance the curriculum available through this course.

[About TERRADA ART VILLAGE]
TERRADA ART VILLAGE is an initiative by Warehouse TERRADA aimed at making Tennoz a focal point for bringing together, showcasing and disseminating art. Please see the following for details.

  • Art Storage: A warehouse fully equipped to store artwork under optimal conditions, including a bonded warehouse, a fumigation facility, and a “seasoning” room to allow for acclimation of artwork.

  • BUCKLE KOBO: This renovated former ironworks in Keihinjima, in Tokyo’s Ota Ward, offers an open-access creative studio.
  • Helutrans-Terrada: A full art supporting partnership that offers one-stop fine art services, including packing, transport, and display.
  • TERRADA Art Complex: A multi-function arts facility including galleries, the TAC ART STUDIO and other functions.
  • Yokohama College of Arts & Design: The Warehouse TERRADA Collaborative Course in Artwork Restoration is supported by TERRADA with the goal of educating future professionals in art restoration and preservation.
  • Architecture Model Workshop: A facility specifically designed for architectural modeling, and creating architectural modeling and selling related products.
